Assistant Pastry Chef (full-time, part-time)

The Assistant Pastry Chef needs to meet the daily production goals for baked goods. That means preparing the dough, letting it bulk ferment, shaping/proofing/baking it, and finally garnishing them. The Assistant Pastry Chef will produce according to recipes provided and will ensure that the products produced in the bakery meet our quality standards while maintaining a clean and sanitary food area.

Responsibilities 

  • Follow production schedule to make and bake the variety and quantity of goods needed
  • Measure ingredients to mix croissant/brioche dough and cake batter according to recipes
  • Laminate dough using automatic sheeter
  • Roll, cut, and shape dough to form different viennoiserie pastries, breads, and related products timely and efficiently
  • Cut, peel, and prepare fruit/nuts for pastry fillings
  • Mix icings and other toppings to decorate pastries
  • Use a variety of kitchen tools, including electric mixers, blenders, cutting tools, rolling pins, and pots/pans
  • Bake all pastries/breads to specification and establish a high standard of product quality
  • Troubleshoot variables that can affect the production process
  • Maintain safe, clean and good working order of production areas and equipment
  • Maintain clear and open communication with packing and sales teams
  • Assist with training of new members on all aspects of production
  • Handle and restock ingredients, tools, and cooking pans

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in viennoiserie pastries and confectionary related production
  • Familiar with mise en place, mixing, locking in and sheeting of multiple types of laminated doughs, plus other product prep.
  • Be passionate about the food industry with a strong interest in high quality products
  • Strong organizational and decision-making skill, along with the ability to recognize what needs to be prioritized
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed

Social Media and Communication Intern

Responsibilities

  • Build and execute effective social media strategies, always keeping in mind the goals of engaging with current customers, attracting new customers, and expanding Café Du Pain.
  • Communicate and collaborate with the entire Café Du Pain Bakery team, including managers, team members, and other interns to fully understand the company vision and goals.
  • Draft, edit, create, and publish relevant, engaging, and appropriate posts for all Café Du Pain social media channels, including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc.
  • Monitor all social media accounts and engage accordingly. This includes replying to posts and comments, sharing relevant content as appropriate, etc.
  • Create and follow editorial calendar, which will include posting at least once a day across all channels.
  • Continuously monitor and collect data regarding social media traffic, making note of which strategies resonate best with which groups, etc.
  • Adapt strategies according to data.
  • Identify target audiences and potential people of interest who may be especially helpful in promoting the bakery. Reach out to them as appropriate.
  • Assist with other duties as necessary.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Current student studying Communication, Branding Marketing, Social Media or recent graduate with a degree in those areas looking to build hands on experience with company or for coursework.

Field Sales Representative- Commission Based

Café Du Pain Bakery is seeking an ambitious and experienced Field Sales Representative to assist a burgeoning food start up in growing its commercial accounts. If you are a self-starter and persuasive, then this is the opportunity for you to showcase your opening and closing skills to generate new streams of revenue for the bakery. In this position, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining commercial accounts in order to meet revenue goals.

Scope of work and responsibilities

The Field Sales Representative will be responsible for securing new corporate catering and small wholesales clients/partners accounts for Café Du Pain Bakery's commercial division. It is expected that prospective new accounts will be cold called, qualified and then closed to increase sales revenue and grow market share for the bakery. On a daily basis, the Field Sales Representative will be responsible for writing contracts for trial and long term catering deliveries, effectively communicating with current clients and new prospects by employing sales strategies that highlight Café Du Pain Bakery’s catering expertise and baked goods offerings and preparing verbal and written sales reports for management to review sales activity on a weekly basis.

Key responsibilities of job include, but not limited to the following:

  • Sourcing new leads with the right value alignment for long term relationship potential as a new customer, contacting them to offer our catering/commercial services and then meeting with them to determine the best solution to provide high quality baked goods and service to them on a long term basis.
  • Maintaining a high degree of knowledge about our baked goods and services but also of our competitors, to include their strengths and weaknesses to position our offerings;
  • Meet previously agreed upon commercial division growth metrics which include but are not limited to closing new client catering contracts, expanding existing client catering needs and hitting revenue goals;
  • Other duties and responsibilities to be determined.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Preferred degree/experience in Business in Sales and Marketing in food sector and beverage industry, will consider related area with demonstrated sales experience.
  • Strong writing and persuasive communication skills;
  • Experience in sales and marketing experience in the food/restaurant sector;
  • Experience with in establishing and using CRM data, mailing lists and other marketing technologies;
  • Ensure high level of data quality, integrity, availability, accuracy, completeness, consistency, and privacy with the CRM data;
  • Ensure that best practices are followed in effecting e-communications based on CRM mailing list as well as face to face meetings;
  • Outgoing, competitive and collaborative;
  • Knowledge of prospecting, sales process and sales pipeline development with short and long term outlook;
  • Adaptable, dependable and flexible;
  • Data driven, detailed oriented, organized and motivated;
  • Ability to follow through from concept to execution and deliverable;
  • Ability to think creatively and strategically;

Strong computer skills with extensive experience in preparing presentations and marketing collateral using PowerPoint and other computer and online programs.

Photography Intern

Responsibilities

  • The main responsibility of the Photography Intern will be to capture enticing photographs from Café Du Pain to use in Café Du Pain’s marketing materials and across our social media channels.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Communicate and collaborate with the entire Café Du Pain Bakery team, including managers, team members, and other interns to fully understand the company vision and goals.
  • Identify products, processes and moments that would make for captivating photographs; constantly be on the lookout for new and exciting opportunities, including scenes, products, and interactions within the bakery, that would make good photographs.
  • Create beautiful, high-quality images that can be widely distributed and shared across social media channels. Photographs should include a range of moments and products, from action shots to still lifes to portraits.
  • Brainstorm creative concepts and develop exciting ideas for marketing strategies and photo shoots; contribute ideas that will help make Café Du Pain a more enticing location for new customers.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Current student studying photography or recent graduate with a degree/certificate photography looking to build a portfolio with company for coursework or to position your brand.
  • Familiarity with Photoshop, Lightroom, etc.
  • Must have your own digital camera and all necessary equipment.
  • Previous customer service experience preferred.
  • Must be creative, flexible, enthusiastic, and open-minded.
  • Must have an interest, expiernce to build an expertise in food photography
  • Must be an excellent listener and a quick thinker.

Marketing Intern

Responsibilities

  • Communicate and collaborate with the entire Café Du Pain Bakery team, including managers, team members, and other interns to fully understand the company vision and goals.
  • Conduct necessary research to identify and understand our market and target audiences.
  • Develop and execute an original, engaging, and appealing marketing strategy to inform the community about Café Du Pain, capture the eyes of prospective customers, and ultimately help Café Du Pain expand.
  • Create and distribute original marketing materials that will appeal to target audiences.
  • Reach out to potential audiences and partners, including other small businesses and community centers in the area as necessary, to build relationships and potentially include them in promotional events.
  • Assist with other duties as necessary.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Current student studying Marketing or a recent graduate with a degree in Marketing..
  • Previous marketing experience preferred.
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Attention to detail
  • Previous customer service experience preferred.
