At café Du Pain Bakery, we bake to create a more delicious world. That means we bake for worthy causes to benefit our community and to create a more delicious experience for you.

What is the cause?

Approximately every 3 minutes one person in the United States (US) is diagnosed with a blood cancer. In 2018, an estimated combined total of 174,250 people in the US were diagnosed with leukemia, lymphoma or myeloma in 2018. Leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma account for 10 percent of the estimated new cancer cases diagnosed in the US.

Research and innovation are the keys to finding cures for the millions who need them.  One group at the forefront of this is The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS).  The mission of LLS, the world's largest voluntary health agency dedicated to blood cancer, is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.

LLS is at the forefront of the fight to cure cancer. Compared to other blood cancer nonprofits, LLS is the largest funder of cutting-edge research to advance cures. We have invested more than $1.2 billion in research. We are leaders in advancing breakthroughs in immunotherapy, genomics and personalized medicine. This research saves lives. These revolutionary new treatments originally discovered through blood cancer research are now being tested in clinical trials for other cancers.

Each of us has been affected by cancer in some way including local Lawrenceville mom, Jen Moog, who has turned her fight with a rare and incurable blood cancer into a crusade to find a cure.  In October 2014, Jen was a 42-year-old working wife and mom of three young children, ages 7, 6 and 4, when her diagnosis of multiple myeloma rocked their world.  Since her diagnosis, she has become a champion in the cause to find a cure through her active involvement & fundraising efforts with LLS.

The proceeds from this class will help LLS provide patient support and education and fund research to continue efforts to improve outcomes for all blood cancer patients. Join in the creative joy.

What is the class?

With spring here flowers are popping up everywhere, offering the hope and anticipation of summer fun.  In the spirit of the season, we are offering the hope of a better future for those facing the impact of blood cancers with our “Flowers for the Future” creative event.  Come join us in “planting” the beautiful butter cookie you will decorate in a delicious “soil” cupcake.  Once the cupcake and cookie are gone (very shortly!) you can reuse the pot to grow your own flowers of spring!

All profits will be donated to LLS research.
