Junior Bakers Summer Class
Ages 7 - 11
Class begins on Tuesday and continues through Friday
Date: Week of  7/ 16 - 7/19
Time: 9-11 am

Students in our Junior classes will have no idea they are maintaining and sharpening their common core basics as they explore the delicious world of baking!

Our youngest chefs will create such culinary masterpieces as Pizza Hand Pockets, Whole Wheat Blueberry Muffins, and Swedish Apple Pancakes, to name a few.  At the same time, they are getting their hands dirty, they will be learning life skills and refreshing core standards including:

Literacy Skills
Reading/interpreting recipes & instructions
Exposure to /use of culinary vocabulary
Expressing descriptions of discovery through all five senses
Using evidence to predict the outcome

Mathematics
Measuring
Simple conversions
Time skills
Fractions

Science
Explore basic scientific principles such as heat, chemistry, and biology through hands-on activities such as baking, tasting, and mixing

Discuss & explore the 5 senses

Art
Color basics through mixing icings colors
Freeform creativity through cookie decorating
Visual balance through product creation

Identify & use kitchen tools
